Mental Health Quarterly Meeting
In 2009 the Society joined Interior Health’s Mental Health Quarterly Meeting. It is an ongoing opportunity for not for profits and government agencies to provide updates on services, funding increases and decreases.

Suicide Prevention Committee
From early 2011 to late 2012 the Society were active members of Vernon’s Suicide Prevention Committee led by the Canadian Mental Health Association. In October 2011 the Society co hosted a community forum on men and depression at the Vernon Recreation Center which saw approximately 250 participants, mostly men. Topics discussed included men’s depression, suicide and sexual abuse. After this event the Family Resource Center had a significant increase in men accessing specialized councilors for sexual abuse related counselling.
