The Our Place Shelter is funded by BC Housing to provide emergency shelter in the Vernon area for those who are absolute homeless, who may be suffering from economic downturn, addictions and/or mental health challenges.

This service is temporarily suspended. 

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Our Place Shelter has been temporarily amalgamated with the Gateway Shelter and is now located at 2506 37 Avenue, Vernon, British Columbia.

Any homeless person over the age of 19 is eligible to enter our shelter, depending on availability of space and whether certain basic criteria can be met. While staying at the shelter, residents can access life skills training, employment programs, counseling, harm reduction supplies, 12-step groups, health and legal services through a community network.

Who can stay at Our Place Shelter?

The shelter is open to men and women who are at least 19 years old and who are homeless, transient, or temporarily in need of accommodation. Everyone who stays at the shelter is expected to comply with all house rules.

How many spaces are available?

The Our Place Shelter has the capacity for 46 residents.

Operating hours are: 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

Registration is between 10:00am and 11:00pm

There is no fee for the program. Shelter programs are funded by BC Housing.
